The project

Client: Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada

Overview

The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development Canada partnered with Trustek to deliver a bespoke Mentoring and Business Development Programme as part of the Canadian Technology Accelerator (CTA) initiative. The goal was clear - to equip high-potential Canadian PropTech companies with the knowledge, connections, and confidence to successfully expand into the UK’s dynamic real estate market.

The Challenge

Entering the UK property technology market presents unique challenges - from navigating unfamiliar regulations to building credibility within a well-established ecosystem. The Department required a partner with deep PropTech expertise and first-hand experience in UK commercial real estate to design and deliver a structured programme that would prepare participants for market success.

Our Approach

1. Tailored Mentoring Framework

Trustek developed a structured, phased mentoring framework designed to support each company based on its maturity and objectives.

  • One-to-one mentoring sessions refined sales strategies and product–market fit.
  • Continuous feedback loops measured progress and ensured outcomes aligned with individual goals.
  • Trustek’s digital tracking tools provided transparent reporting for both participants and the Department.

2. Strategic B2B Matchmaking

We facilitated targeted introductions between Canadian PropTech innovators and leading UK stakeholders - including landlords, developers, and investors. These curated connections enabled participants to explore pilot projects, partnerships, and investment opportunities within the UK market.

Results and Impact

Feedback from participants and the Department was exceptionally positive.

  • Companies reported that mentoring sessions and introductions exceeded expectations.
  • Several participants requested further introductions and follow-on engagement.
  • The Department praised Trustek’s professional delivery, detailed reporting, and measurable outcomes.

The success of this initiative led directly to an extended partnership - the creation of an Anglo-Canadian Real Estate Innovation Event, designed to build on the programme’s momentum.
